OTTAWA – The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) was encouraged by the 2013 Ontario budget, released yesterday. The budget held the corporate tax rate for manufacturing at 10 per cent, and extended the accelerated capital cost allowance by two years, allowing manufacturers to write off the cost of new machinery and equipment more quickly.

Environment minister praises industry’s commitment to sustainability

OTTAWA – Canada’s chemistry industry could attract close to $5 billion in new investment over the next decade, according to estimates by the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), cited today at the association’s annual general meeting. If secured, that new investment would stimulate growth throughout the Canadian economy, with the chemistry sector providing the building blocks and services needed by more than a dozen industries – from clothing and pharmaceutical companies, to natural resource developers, the construction industry and the auto sector.

The Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC) and Lambton College invite the media to accompany Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development and Innovation Brad Duguid on a tour of the college’s Centre of Excellence for Process Manufacturing on Monday, June 25th at 1:30 p.m.  Minister Duguid will learn about the college’s innovative manufacturing-focused programs, and its successful partnership with the Sarnia-Lambton chemistry industry.
